I play this game when I want to feel better about my backgammon skills. I play 9-game matches, and on Hard level I have won 100% of my matches (and probably 90% of my games). The computer does not consider the defensive game at all, and certainly doesnt play the doubling cube correctly...it seems to be considering PIP count only, and not the fact that it is blocked into a possible gammon situation. Again, entertaining but only challenging to beginner level players.

Too slow for every move. If my home is all full each time the oponent (computer) draws IT is slowly display-uri this slow message on the screen that he cannot move. At start after each person draws the winner has to move those Numbers which is very dumb. I dont want to move the computers number! I want to move my own numbers!

... so not sure where the updates have happened but clicking single player doesnt work unless you have a magic touch. The game, once it magically started, is way to easy. And I dont need to be asked about Game Center every time I open it. Ill find another backgammon app now. This was ok a few years back.

It would also be nice if they explained the other types of Backgammon you can choose from as Ive only played the classic backgammon.

I have played nearly 1000 games & matches against your computer & just like humans the computer,has many flaws. I have played this game for 30 years so I know a little. The huge flaw is simply the amount of doubles,if you just cut the. Amount by at least 50%,it would be more a game of skill than just blind luck. Having said that,this is still by far the best out there ,which is faint praise. It is now many months later & I have played over 2500 games & the App has performed flawless, not once has it crashed, my only complaint that after 2500 games in the hard mode my win ratio is close to 3 to 1.The app is lacking any skill with the doubling cube.If there were no doubles I could beat the computer 10 of 10 times which doesnt speak well for the programming skills of this app!!

After an in depth back and forth with Trivial Games and to upshot is that they will not admit to or fix the obvious roll cheating and flawed logic of their game. Uninstalling it. Gave 1 star as I had too and that the graphics are decent.

This game would be great, but it blatantly cheats on the dice throws. It alway gets you if you leave a man open, but you rarely get the roll you need if the computer leaves a man exposed. It is also not uncommon for the computer to get three, even four doubles in a row. The graphics and the usability are great. If it didnt cheat, Id easily recommend it.

Fast and competitive.

I rarely play this game anymore. Usually when i do it is only for a few games until i get sick of the obvious non-randomness of the dice rolls again.. Close it out.. And forget about it again until the next time i am in the dentists office again and need something else to think about. You would think by the "expert" level at keast the dice rolls could be truly random. Hall ark Hallmark

The version without ads is worth the money.

Whoever programmed this guarantees when in the "Hard" category, the computer wins the opening roll 95% of the time. It also guarantees that if you are exposed, no matter how unlikely, the computer will always get the proper combination to bump you no matter how improbable. It is very much geared to having the computer have an unrealistic advantage

Computer version cheats

Its getting awful. It used to be fair, no more!

Frustrating when playing on advanced levels as strategy is not increased by the computer opponent. The system just gives itself an annoying amount of doubles. There is no way in hell that a random number generator could keep getting just the right roll to win. Fix that and we will have a great game. Much better for two players.

If you enjoy winning without a challenge, this is the game for you. The game is especially incompetent in end-game and doubling strategy.

After having this app for a few years I just deleted it. Ive grown tired of it rolling 7 doubles in 9 turns. Maybe somewhere there is a Backgammon app where the programmers are intelligent enough to be able to figure out how to have it play better without resorting to cheats.

**UPDATE** on 4/10/16: I finally figured out why this app is so irksome to me and it involves an assumption that when you are playing someone, theres an innate expectation that you are playing THEM. However, it dawned on me that youre actually playing the code writers who have inserted themselves into the game with their ridiculously frequent [what should be] low percentage rolls that change the course of the game, sometimes a few times. Its like passive aggression x10 control freaky playing. But it has the [probably] intended effect of making an average player seem on par with a more experienced player. =================== Like so many that have written reviews, Im frustrated with the lack of randomness on the dice rolls. I sent an email and the response was that they use ARC 4 for computing "random" rolls and that they tested it a kajillion times and its working perfectly. ITS NOT RANDOM! There are too many instances of incredibly perfect moves--for both sides, to be fair. And then add the unstableness of the app with too many frozen games. Plus, has anyone figured out how to chat? Please fix these issues! It sounds like the original version worked well, for good players at least. Those who cant play well should learn and quit whining when you lose. But apparently theres more money to be made this way. Id pay extra for a truly random dice roll and stable app. Pretty please?

Suddenly app wont connect to Game Center - now cannot play as game freezes. Please fix! A player keeps starting a game with me and there is NO OPTION for me to decline. The game request starts automatically. There should be an option to decline a game. Please ALSO, players cheat and fix their scores! Look at the Leaderboard! If that is not corrected soon I will be deleting this app. No sense in playing if the scores are a result of cheating. Nothing has been done to correct!

Whats up with not being able to access backgammon outside of the Game Center? Just started doing this.
